A relationship with God!

In our own lives, we have experienced that the relationship we have with God makes us happy. We are convinced that our deepest meaning lies in our relationship with God. God made us as human beings, not to live our own lives, but to live from connection with God. In this life, but also in the life hereafter, in eternity. Therefore, we would like to help young people in popular vacation areas and share this with them.

Questions we often hear:

We do this because we have experienced in our own lives that the relationship with God makes us happy. We are convinced that our deepest meaning lies in our relationship with God. God made us as human beings, not to live our own lives, but to live from connection with God. In this life, but also in the life hereafter, in eternity. Therefore, we would like to help young people in popular vacation areas and share this with them.

You may not expect it, but the question “Why am I here on earth?” is important for a lot of young people we notice in the one-on-one conversations with young people – in Lloret de Mar and Blanes too. Within youth groups, there is not always the space to speak freely about this. At the same time, a vacation is a great time to have a conversation about this. Lloret de Mar and Blanes are simply very popular destinations where young people like to go.
We want to give young people a chance to enter the conversation in a non-committal way. Our faith in Jesus has helped us find answers to this question.

Yes. In some cases, a conversation with a Beach Mission volunteer immediately forms a turning point in someone’s life: in that they decide to follow Jesus. Often people need longer to reach such a decision: then a one-on-one conversation with a volunteer can contribute to this process. More important than just the result is the volunteers’ obedience to Jesus’ command to make disciples, disciples. And that always provides meaning!

No. Beach Mission volunteers receive no financial compensation for their efforts and largely pay the cost of their travel themselves.

Whether you are a Christian or not, you are responsible for the choices you make. At the same time, your choices are often strongly influenced by the relationships you have. You are always weighing whether the choices you make are getting in the way of your relationship with your partner, children, parents. In a relationship with God, it works the same way. And God Himself is going to show you what and what issues stand in the way between Him and you. God does that through the Bible, your conscience and the Holy Spirit. It is very important to take steps in this, though. That is what the Bible calls “confessing your sins” (naming what is in the way and naming that you understand how bad it is for the other person, for God) and “covert” (taking a new path in life)

Sometimes not, but often. We also do experience, that young people supernaturally sober up in no time. We find that God is also above this. The Holy Spirit is able to break through this. But most young people are easily approachable on the street anyway.

Our message: living in connection with God

As humans, we are made as relational beings. We can connect with each other, reflect on our own behavior and think about meaning, for example. Relationships give life meaning. We are convinced that our deepest destiny lies in the relationship with God. God made us as human beings, not to live our own lives, but to live from the connection with God. In this life, but also in the life after this life, in eternity.

Experiencing God

Most people realize that there is more between heaven and earth, but many people have never had a personal experience with God. The reason is that there is a problem between us and God. That problem is in our thinking and actions. We as humans can do many good things, but when you look at the misery in the world, you see that we as humans are unable to live in harmony with those around us. You see this on a large scale, but also in our own lives. Even in doing good things, we often have our own happiness in mind. This problem creates distance between people, but also between a human being and our Maker, God.

Sorry

A good conversation often solves the problem quickly, at least if the problem is not too big. With a crime, for example, this is not so easy. The victim or the victim’s family won’t just settle for “sorry” from the perpetrator. Even when you are fair, you at least still want someone to get their deserved punishment. Now, how big a problem is that to God? Is ‘Sorry God’ enough or does it take more?

Deserved punishment

When God created the world, all was well. Man was given responsibility for the world. As long as man was connected to God there would be no death and man would live with God forever. Now there is much suffering in this world. God holds us personally responsible for our mistakes, but also collectively for the misery in the world because we are no different from other people and evil does seem to have crept into our DNA. God calls this sin and deals with it like we deal with a crime. With just “sorry,” God is not satisfied. The punishment God is satisfied with is that is we die and we are without Him in eternity. Consequence would be that no human being remains. Is there any alternative solution?

Recovery

God has come up with an alternative solution! That solution is the sacrifice of an innocent man. Someone who does not deserve the punishment himself, but is willing to take it for another. Who is so crazy? Which man is innocent? Only Jesus. Out of love for the world, God took the form of a human being in Jesus. He lived life as God intended. He did not have evil in His DNA. During His life, He looked out for people who had been cast out by society, pointed out the wrongdoings of the established spiritual order and spoke of a new Kingdom of love. The spiritual order wanted to put Him to death. Yet he was not a victim of this, for he allowed himself to be imprisoned, condemned and put to death-he entered eternal darkness, and so Jesus sacrificed himself for us.

Problem solved?

Even before we could ask God, God took this step in the year 33. It was on His own initiative. Yet God wants us to realize that this was also necessary for us personally. Are you at that point yet? Let God know that!

Adoption

As a victim or family of a crime victim, it doesn’t just happen that you are close friends years later. With God, this is completely different. He wants to make Himself known through the Bible. He, the Creator and King of the universe, the highest spiritual power, wants to adopt us as children. He wants to establish a connection with us, as close as in a marriage.

I want to come to You with my life today.
I am not a better person than everyone else.
I want to ask forgiveness for my mistakes (sins).
The sacrifice of Jesus was necessary for me.
I am glad that You came up with this solution.
