A relationship with God!

In our own lives, we have experienced that our relationship with God brings us happiness. We are convinced that our deepest purpose lies in our relationship with God. God created us as human beings, not to live our own lives, but to live in connection with God—in this life, but also in the life to come, in eternity. That is why we would like to help young people in popular vacation destinations and share this with them.

Questions we often hear:

We do this because we have experienced in our own lives that the relationship with God makes us happy. We are convinced that our deepest meaning lies in our relationship with God. God made us as human beings, not to live our own lives, but to live from connection with God. In this life, but also in the life hereafter, in eternity. Therefore, we would like to help young people in popular vacation areas and share this with them.

You might not expect it, but we’ve noticed in our one-on-one conversations with young people that the question “Why am I here on Earth?” is on the minds of many of them—including in Lloret de Mar, Chersonissos, Ibiza, Mallorca, Sunny Beach, and Albufeira. Within youth groups, there isn’t always room to talk openly about this. At the same time, a vacation is the perfect opportunity to have this conversation. Lloret de Mar, Chersonissos, Ibiza, Mallorca, Sunny Beach, and Albufeira are simply very popular destinations that young people love to visit.
We want to give young people the opportunity to start a conversation in a non-committal way. Our faith in Jesus has helped us find the answer to this question.

Yes. In some cases, a conversation with a Beach Mission volunteer can immediately bring about a turning point in someone’s life—in the sense that they decide to follow Jesus. Often, people need more time to reach such a decision: in those cases, a one-on-one conversation with a volunteer can help facilitate this process.
Even more important than the result itself is the volunteers’ obedience to Jesus’ command to make disciples. And that always makes a difference!

No. Beach Mission volunteers receive no financial compensation for their efforts and largely pay the cost of their travel themselves.

Whether you are a Christian or not, you are responsible for the choices you make. At the same time, your choices are often strongly influenced by the relationships you have. You are always weighing whether the choices you make are getting in the way of your relationship with your partner, children, parents.

In a relationship with God, it works the same way. And God Himself is going to show you what and what issues stand in the way between Him and you. God does that through the Bible, your conscience and the Holy Spirit.

It is very important to take steps in this, though. That is what the Bible calls “confessing your sins” (naming what is in the way and naming that you understand how bad it is for the other person, for God) and “repenting” (taking a new path in life)

Sometimes not, but often. We do also experience, that young people supernaturally sober up in no time.
We notice that God is also above this. The Holy Spirit is able to break through this.
But most young people are readily approachable on the street anyway.

Our message: living in connection with God

As humans, we are made as relational beings. We can connect with each other, reflect on our own behavior and think about meaning of life, for example. Relationships give meaning to life. We are convinced that our deepest meaning lies in our relationship with God. God made us as human beings, not to live our own lives, but to live from connection with God. In this life, but also in the life after this life, in eternity.

Experiencing God

Most people realize that there is more between heaven and earth, but many have never had a personal experience with God. The reason is that there is a problem between us and God. That problem is in our thinking and actions. We as human beings can do many good things, but when you look at the misery in the world, you see that we as human beings are unable to live in harmony with those around us. You see this on a large scale, but also in our own lives. Even in doing good things, we often have our own happiness in mind. This problem creates distance between people, but also between a human being and our Maker, God.

Sorry

A good conversation often solves the problem quickly, at least if the problem is not too big. In the case of a crime, for example, this is not so easy. The victim or the victim’s family does not simply settle for “sorry” from the perpetrator. If you still wish someone the light in their eyes you at least still want someone to receive their deserved punishment. How big a problem is that to God now? Is “Sorry God” enough or is more needed?

Deserved punishment

When God made the world, all was well. Man was given responsibility for the world. As long as man was connected to God there would be no death and man would live eternally with God. Now there is much misery in this world. God holds us personally responsible for our mistakes, but also collectively for the misery in the world, because we are no different from other people and evil seems to have crept into our DNA as well. God calls this sin and deals with it as we deal with a crime. With just “sorry,” God is not satisfied. The punishment God is satisfied with is that we die and we are without Him in eternity. Consequence would be that no human remains. Is there any alternative solution?

Recovery

God has come up with an alternative solution! This solution is the sacrifice of an innocent human being. One who does not deserve the punishment himself, but is willing to take it for another. Who is that crazy? Which human being is innocent? Only Jesus. Out of love for the world, God took the form of a human being in Jesus. He lived life as God intended. He did not have evil in His DNA. During His life, He looked out for people who had been cast out by society, denounced the malpractices of the established spiritual order and spoke of a new Kingdom of love. The clerical order wanted to put him to death. Yet he was not a victim of this, what he allowed himself to be imprisoned, condemned and put to death-he entered eternal darkness, and so Jesus sacrificed himself for us.

Problem solved?

Even before we could ask God, God took this step in the year 33. It was on His own initiative. Yet God wants us to realize that this was also necessary for us personally. Are you at that point yet? Let God know that!

Adoption

As a victim or family of a crime victim, it doesn’t just happen that you are close friends years later. With God, this is completely different. He wants to make himself known through the Bible. He, the creator and king of the universe, the highest spiritual power, wants to adopt us as children. He wants to establish a connection with us, as close as in a marriage.

Today, I want to come to You with my life.
I am no better than anyone else.
I want to ask for forgiveness for my mistakes (sins).
Jesus’ sacrifice was necessary for me.
I am glad You provided this solution.
