My name is Arthur Nahuis. I am married with Eva and we have a wonderful son: Sefanja.
We live in Nieuwerkerk ad IJssel and are members of the Hervormde Nieuwe Kerk (Reformed New Church) there.
My profession is sales representative at Alcuro Glas en Kozijnen (Alcuro Glass and Window Frames) . The office of Beach Mission is located in the office of Alcuro. That is how I came into contact with Beach Mission.
I was raised in a Christian family. At a young age I experienced a special miracle, which would change the rest of my life. When I was six years old I went to grammar school and it was soon obvious that I could not write. I apparently was dyslectic. When I went to grade 7 of grammar school, I got a teacher who thought it was just sloppiness. It became an increasingly big problem. One evening when my mother tucked me in before going to sleep, I asked her what my future would look like. After all, I could not write. Would I be able to find a regular job? She asked me if I believed the Lord Jesus could heal me of my dyslexia. I believe that, for the Lord God could do anything!
Together we prayed for that and the next day I wrote everything well! All of a sudden my future was open! When I was 12 I was at a summer camp of ‘In de Ruimte’. There I gave my life to Jesus. I wanted to follow him the rest of my life. When I was 16 I was baptized.
I like to share my faith with others. Especially with this new generation which grows up more and more without parents or school that tell them about Jesus. They often look for happiness in alcohol and drugs to forget their emptiness for a while. Despite their young ages they often have experienced quite a lot. It always is special to get into conversation with them and tell them there is more than the life they now lead, to tell them that Jesus loves them. That is why I love to be involved at Beach Mission; among other things, I am responsible for recruiting sponsors.
